I have been uncommonly busy (and simultaneously not in a great place in general) for the past 2 weeks, so I have completely missed some thoughtful comments, two from newcomers Lucas and James, and one from my #1 comment customer WJT. Sorry, fellas. I’ve changed the comment settings to no longer require approval. We’ll see if that brings bot hell to this site but since it’s blocked to search engines I’m hoping we’ll be safe.
I’ve learned a few things about the Rosary. For one, using a rosary to pray the Rosary is apparently optional and is meant as a guide for following the proper procedure. I still want to get one (more on that in a minute) but I guess it’s not strictly necessary.
Last night I dreamed dark spirits were pursuing me and I was attempting a fighting retreat. The pursuers were male and female and resembled zombies in some ways.
Since leaving behind corporate Mormonism I have become quite anti-religion. I view pretty much all forms of it as thinly veiled money-making/power-grabbing ventures in which a pretended salvation is offered in exchange for money, control, and adoration. I do not oppose capitalism, however, and therefore take little umbrage with, or have much sympathy for, those who buy this particular milk and honey (with money and with price) if that is what they choose to do.
I’m on record a few times and places that I am generally pretty bad at and only somewhat interested in “syncs” but this one is fun and although it may not account for much to such sync masters as Bill and WJT, I’ll post it for their viewing pleasure, or lack thereof as the case may be.
If you can’t tell, I’ve been very frustrated lately with this aspect of my life. I’m annoyed particularly at Nephi, whether that’s fair or not. As stated in my BoM typos post, I don’t think the BoM is particularly well written and if that’s true, that is either the fault of the writers or the translators.
I have bought in pretty heavily to Bill Wright’s notion about an interstellar reading of the BoM. Until recently I’ve operated from the perspective that the notion is valid, mainly because I like it. Over the past few weeks I have been deep in study of the BoM and am now operating from the perspective if making Bill’s theory conform to the BoM rather than the other way around.
I’m neck deep in a few topics right now that I really want to blog about but I’m just not quite ready. I want to have some more answers before I put them out there.
I’m still thinking about WJT’s BoM space exploration analysis. There’s an idea I can’t shake. The BoM is an utterly unbelievable book if you place it in the world we know and with humans as we understand them.
