I am sticking with my theory that Laman and Lemuel are twins. I think there is a good chance they either map to Amrod and Amras, the twin sons of Feanor, or to Ingwe, whom I also suspect is not one, but two. If I had to pick one of those today, I’d go with Amrod and Amras. Regardless, I think we see L&L here in this Animalia page:

“Lazy Lions, Laman and Lemuel, Lounging in the Local Library”, the page should have read.
L&L are well known for being lazy, of course. It took electroshock therapy to get them to help Nephi build a boat. Ironic, considering we may have to map one of them to Pharazon, the admiral of the world’s greatest armada. They were pretty hesitant to go back to Jerusalem for the plates and gave up after a single attempt. Once separated from the Nephites in the promised land, the BoM calls their seed out as “idle” on a regular basis, a trait we could assume they learned from L&L. Lazy…that word certainly fits.
Their seed is also known for being obsessed with getting the records of the Nephites. Their descendants held a grudge for generations that the Brass Plates were taken from L&L. L&L want the books, in other words, just like those lions in the picture, and they aren’t afraid to break a few rules to get them. They also want to rule even though that job belongs to Nephi, so they have a habit of claiming roles that belong to someone else, like Pharazon did. L&L sure make quite a mess of things, don’t they? Despite their laziness, they can be pretty rowdy when they have a mind.
As a result, they’ve been kicked out of the library and now have to read their (half red) books outside:

The sins of their children are explicitly laid at their feet, according to the BoM, so they have every reason to one day decide to fix that.
How? By being involved in the events that lead to the repentance of the future Lehites. They themselves perhaps will not sail forth, but they will help the “man among the gentiles” do what he is supposed to do, and not try to take someone else’s role. Wouldn’t that be rich irony if in the latter days they are the ones who get records restored to their long-descendants that help them repent? And as a result, the full gathering of Israel can then occur.
That would make for a really nice redemption arc, and I suspect that would free them from their current condemnation.
